In view of the celebrations of World Oceans Day 2020 on Monday 8th June 2020, the Delegation of the European Union to Mauritius and Seychelles the Delegation organised a web conference on the theme “Innovation and biodiversity: a blue deal for the Indian Ocean? Innovative experiences from the South-Western Indian Ocean”.

As part of raising awareness on the role and responsibilities of the Mauritius Oceanography Institute (MOI), being the Regional Implementation Centre in the region for the GMES and Africa Support Programme under the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) Thema “Marine and Coastal Management in the East Africa Region” , the MOI-GMES was invited to make a presentation on ‘Monitoring the Ocean from Space’.
In this context Dr. Rajiv Bheeroo in the presence of the key GMES team comprising of Dr. Daniel Marie, Javed Mosaheb, Mr. Eric Martial, Mr. Sadien Murughen and Miss Ranjeeta Boyjoonauth made a presentation on the following:
The webinar was broadcasted during prime time on the national TV on Tuesday 9th June 2020 at 19:30 hours.

In this context Dr. Rajiv Bheeroo in the presence of the key GMES team comprising of Dr. Daniel Marie, Javed Mosaheb, Mr. Eric Martial, Mr. Sadien Murughen and Miss Ranjeeta Boyjoonauth made a presentation on the following:
- Essentially emphasizing on the financial support from the European Union, administered by AUC and coordinated by IOC with regards to the GMES Africa Project as well as its objectives and final goal.
- Results on the role of EO data through satellite imagery with regards to developing marine and coastal services were presented through an interactive GIS platform as well as power point slides.
