Nana Kwaku-Duah, known in showbiz as Tic has bemoaned what he describes as selfishness among people in the Ghanaian music industry.
He explained that the “one man chop” attitude is the reason very few artiste rule the music space within a period of time.
Speaking to Citi TV‘s AJ Sarpong on Hall of Fame, the ‘Kwani Kwani’ singer intimated: “In Ghana when you do something and someone wants to promote it, hates sets it. Why? Even if the person will come spice the show-up, they won’t bring them because everybody wants to chop alone. That is the problem in our music industry. One man chop. Simple.”
He also expressed his displeasure about the fact that a few musicians are made to hijack the music scene.
“How can we have in a whole year, only three artistes doing shows when the whole nation has 100 artistes?” he asked.
When asked if the few artistes being booked for shows are not just satisfying the demand and supply theory, he answered that “we create demand.”
Tic (formerly Tic Tac) is one of few rappers who projected the hiplife genre during its incipient stage.
He was able to break into the Nigerian market, gaining prominence in the country through collaborations with Nigerian musicians like Tony Tetuila.
After taking a foray into other ventures, he returned to active music business in 2018 with songs like ‘Pene Ma Me’ and ‘Kwani Kwani Part 2’.
