The Ministry of Finance has released a total of GH¢14 172,313.23 meant to clear the arrears of transfer grants of staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES) between the period of 2013 and 2016, a letter sighted by MyNewsGh.com from the Finance Ministry reveals.
It has therefore directed that the stated amount be released to the Education Minister to enable him make payment for the outstanding transfer grants and other allowances of the GES as contained in a request made on a letter dated 9th May, 2017 reference number No. F0352/355/01.
“Please I refer to Ministry of Education letter No. F0352/355/01 dated 9th May, 2017 You are hereby authorized to release the sum of GH¢14 172,313.23 (Fourteen Million, One Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Thirteen Ghana Cedis, Twenty-Three Ghana Pesewas) to the Hon. Minister of Education to enable him make payment of Outstanding Transfer Grants and other allowances to the staff of the Ghana Education Service for the period January 2013 to December, 2016.
The expenditure of GH¢14 172,313.23 should be charged to the compensation of the Employees Vote for the Ministry of Education as per details charged on attached Specific Warrant”, the letter signed by Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta further instructed.
