Perched on the rocky mountains of the Eastern Region of Ghana is the Kwahu Traditional Area which is made up of several communities up the Odwen Anoma Mountains.
The terrain is rocky from the climb up from Nkawkaw through Atibie – Mpraeso or the Obomeng side of the climb.
The rock extend as far as Kwahu Tafo close to the Afram River, Abene which is the home of the overlord of Kwahu Nana Akuamoah Agyapong II and the other fringe communities such as Kotosu, Nteso, Bukuruwa, Twenurase. The communities bothering the river or at the border with Ashanti Region all have huge rocky resources waiting to be harnessed.
The rocks of Kwahu have remain largely untapped as a natural resource for either construction of houses or as chippings for road construction.
The one district one factory (1D1F) initiative by the Akufo-Addo administration stands to make a huge impact for both the indigenes of Kwahu, the district assemblies and for private investors if these natural resources are exploited sustainably. This will help reduce youth unemployment in the Kwahu area drastically.
As a indigene of Kwahu who is interested in the development of the Kwahu area and the employment potential of such a rock and stone quarry factory, I am very interested in seeing private investment with government support driven towards this direction.
The one district one factory (1D1F) initiative by the Akufo-Addo administration stands to make a huge impact for both the indigenes of Kwahu, the district assemblies and for private investors if these natural resources are exploited sustainably. This will help reduce youth unemployment in the Kwahu area drastically.
Kwahu needs a rock and stone quarry to help boost the economic potential of the districts up the Odwen Anoma Mountains and Ghana as a whole.
