Obaapa Christy’s new single, W’asue Me tune off her eleventh album, Wagye Me has sparked controversies already among many Ghanaians.

Many who have heard the tune have described it as a diss song to her former husband, Pastor Love.

According to these critics, the lyrics of the song were inspired by the troubles she faced whilst married to the man of God nine years ago.

But the manager of the multiple award-winning minstrel has refuted the claim.

Kwame Owusu Darkwa reacting to the opinion of the public who believe his artist released the song to throw shades at her former lover told Zionfelix on Radio Univers that the song was not inspired by her issues with Pastor Love.

He explained that there was no way his artist would sit down to write a song against a man he has kids with so the public should not think that way for the tune which is gradually gaining grounds in the country.

Mr. Owusu added that Obaapa faced a lot of challenges when growing up and those problems inspired the new tune, W’asue Me.

“Obaapa and ex-husband’s issue happened nine years back and clearly, she’s moved on so why would someone think she has recorded this song for him after nine good years? Why didn’t they say some of the songs she released after their divorce was to diss Pastor Love but this song?

Obaapa was carrying a lot of loads.

If you have listened to her lifestory, you would understand what I’m saying Zion” Kwame said
Sharing some of the troubles his artiste faced when she was young, Kwame Owusu Darkwa revealed that she used to exchange the same school uniform with her siblings because their parent couldn’t afford different ones for them. When Zionfelix quizzed if the musician’s ex-hubby was not part of her troubles whilst they were together, he answered “how would someone’s husband become a burden on her? ”

He asked the public to “take the song as it is and not read different meanings into it because she recorded it out of her past experience and her marriage is not one of them.”

To prove that “W’asue Me” is not a diss song, the manager revealed during the chat with Zionfelix that the album was to be released a year ago but they postponed it because they felt they needed one song to add to the total number of tracks.

He continued that the “W’asue Me” song was written three months back after she could not remember the lyrics to her song “Aden Nti Na Wosu Saa” during a rehearsal session.

Kwame concluded that “Obaapa and her former lover have three kids that they are both taking care of so there is no way she would take such action against him.”
